There is no easy way to break the news, so here I go...

My mom passed away last night at about 8 pm.  My dad, Shad, Jeni, Kolby, Judy (my mom's sister), and I were there with her. Luckily, she passed peacefully and quickly.

We are so proud of her valiant fight. She gave it her all.

Being silly with Kolby in the airport in Greece.

  1. Brooke,
I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your mom, she was a true gem. I loved that woman with every piece of my heart, and will be greatly missed! She was an amazing teacher to both my girls. There were not many teachers like her left. She loved what she did and gave it her all. The knowledge, kindness, caring, warmth, and understanding the kids gained from just being in her presence was a gift. She gave many misunderstood children a fighting chance.

I will miss her smile, laughter, and sage advice that she gave me about life. I wish your family love and blessings. May you take comfort in knowing she is with God now and no longer suffering. Love~The Sterling family (Mike, Nicole, Madison, and Makenzy.

  4. Frank, Shad, Brooke, Jeni and Kolby, I can only imagine how you are all feeling right now, from the loss of your wonderful mom and spouse. I join your sadness but am grateful that though her life has been cut short, she is now free from the pain and suffering she has been dealing with so valiantly. Bless her dear sweet heart and bless each of you during this very difficult time. Nancy was a wonderful friend and person, and leaves behind lots of good and happy memories of smiles, laughter, devotion, goodness, service and so much more. Nancy left this world a better place from living in it. You are all in our prayers!

  13. I'm so sorry to hear this and for your family also. My son is in her class this year and we both loved her dearly. Thank you for all of your work on this blog-it's been a blessing to read about her fight and courage. I am beyond grateful to have had her in our lives this school year and to have known her heart and her love. It won't be the same without her.

  14. Brooke I am so incredibly sorry. This picture of her is exactly how I remember her. She was always so kind and generous with me. I enjoyed taking her site seeing for a day when I lived in DC! Praying for you and all your family. Love, Robs
